1984 Poster analysis

I have chosen this poster because its a similar type of film as our film, this poster is effective because it ads a sense of mystery over the film as there is a face in the background hidden with a single light over the top adding an eerie sense over the image. Also the poster is quiet plain as there is block colours dominant colour is black with a bit of orange in bottom, this suggests that it is a dark film. There is a picture of two people a man and a woman it looks as though the woman had been injured or died as she is in the mans arms looks like there is some sort of heartache in the film as there is a concerned face on the mans face, this also suggests that there will be some kind of unrest in the film. The tagline 'George Orwells terrifying vision comes to screen' this shows that there is a mystery about the film and going to be problems in the film. The billing list is at the bottom showing that its the name of the film that is going to sell it rather than the actors as its from a famous book so people will already know what is going on with the characters, the company was taking a punt with that and hoping people go for name not actors.

Dark Knight Rises Poster Analysis

The film poster is a simple design but effective this is because it doesn't reveal a lot about the film. The poster shows Batman standing in front of a burning batman logo this denotes that there is a problem he must over come, also you cannot see his face which suggests that there is something to hide from the public. The poster has three main colours, Black, White and Orange these are used as black is the main colour as that is the main colour of Batman which adds an sinister atmosphere as its a dark and secretive. The white is mainly the text too make it stand out on the black background. The fire it the only source of light in the poster, this shows that its going to be a dark film and mainly in the shadows. The angle is a low angle shot of batman getting the image of the bat in the background, they do this to show the problem is occurring while Batman is looking down as if he caused the fire as it is in his symbol. suggests he was the cause. Also its a low angle links to the 'rises' of the name as it looks like he is rising up to the flames. The billing list is also in alphabetical order which makes sure the actors aren't favored over another. The tag line 'a fire will rise' shows that there is a problem going to be faced in the film that will need dealing with.

Captain America Cover Analysis

This magazine cover if for Captain America, a famous superhero. The background on the magazine is the American flag, this conotates that its set in America or that the majority of the film is to do with America. Also the flag loos worn suggest a battle scene or a war taking place during the film. The anchorage of the cover is that the main image is in front of the masthead suggests that the actor and character are bigger than the magazine and will sell it. Also the man in the image has a serious face making it look like there is a battle or war taking place as his fist is clenched and has a shield in hand. Also the lexical choice for the magazine uses words like 'Magazine of the year' which makes the audience want to buy the magazine as they use buzz words to catch the attention. The house colour is white black and yellow, this shows that even tho that captain america even though he has different colours, that they are not as important as the main ones of the magazine, the colours of captain america are dark to fit in and not over power the magazines house style. The magazine also has puffs and pugs grabbing the readers attention making them want to buy the magazine more 'meet the first avenger' this shows that they are aiming for comic book fans as they will know who the avengers are big in comics and want to get all fans of Marvel comics to go and see the film

History of Trailers

Movie trailers have developed a great deal since the idea of moving adverts for films (trailers). Their style and pace have become a great deal shorter and changed a number of times.

1950's trailers
Trailers during this period was l950's were a lot longer, reveiled majority of the stories alot of text flashed on the screen e.g. 'Terrifying! Never before seen!' also on 'snow white' trailer it was unusual as it had Walt Disney talking over it and was unusual now and then for director to give a behind the scenes footage on the trailer.
Example of 1950's trailer...

1980's trailers
Trailers had now started to change, there were more abrupt edits, shorter clips and more cuts breaking the film up. very little was reveled from the movie leaving the audience wanting more from the film, no spoilers. Often there was actual footage from the final edit of the film this grabs the audience to want to see the film. This was the age where catchy tag-lines where used on them

Modern day trailers
Modern day trailers are now a lot quicker paced trailers making them easier for the trailer editing team alot easier, as they also use 'dailys' which are the takes left over at the end of the day which are no longer needed. They also show very little of the movie which leaves the audience wanting more from it. They also use quicker cuts and edits from the olden days this has changed because of the way films have changed many more can be put out during a year which shows them that they need to produce better quality of trailers to help the film sell as usually they are more exiting than the actual film

Dark Knight rises magazine analysis

This magazine is from total film magazine, its advertising the Dark Knight Rises. The anchorage of the magazine is of the main picture of Batman, this is because he is the main person in the film he is shown standing tall and in a strong assertive position, this shows he is in comand and is the hero, also he is in front of the title showing he is a capable of carrying the magazine on his own as they are confident that Batman will sell the magazine on his own. The text on the magazine is the same as the title and the masthead, this is the housestyle of the previous Batman films of which Christian Bale has played in the last 3 films. This is the idea that people only buy things because of the actor this is the case with this as many people would buy it because they like Batman so they would buy this. Also the word Batman isnt mentioned in the title its only in the smaller writing shows that people are aware of who it is and will but it because of him. Also the puffs have people like 'Tim Burton' who is a famous director and even with just his name people will know what it's about even before they have read the article. It also has the 'worlds best movie reviews'with that on the front makes people want it because it draws people in with buzz words. Also the 'The Ultimate Batman Issue' this makes it a one off magazine as it shows that its the 'ultimate' and all fanboys will want it
