Conventions of a trailer

Typical conventions of a trailer are;
Reflective of the Genre
Graphic captions- Directors name, date of release, text related to the film
Non-Dietetic music-This can help reflect the Genre
Production Company logo- 20th Century Fox or Paramount
Narrative Enigma-this can help set the film up
Editing- Quick or slow depending on the Genre to create tension, excitement or mood
Close ups- This will show off the stars off the in the movie

Definition of a Trailer

Trailers consist of a series of selected shots from the film being advertised. since the purpose of the trailers is to attract am audience, to the film, these excerpts are usually drawn from the most exiting, funny or other noteworthy parts of the film. For the trailer is usually not in chronological order of the story. A trailer is usually 2 and a half minutes long but once a year the companies can extend it to show there biggest hopes for a blockbuster film.   

What are the Products used for

Trailers, Posters and Magazines are to attract the audiences to see the films. Trailers do this by showing clips from the film also by using the most exciting, funny or noteworthy parts of the film but not too much to wreck the film for other people. A trailer is only meant to be two an a half minutes maximum and has to make sure they get the message across to their target audience. Posters are used to show other aspects i.e. for the new Harry Potter film they used just the faces of the characters to attract the audience to see the film because of the actors that are advertised. As on this poster there is no actual mention of the word Harry Potter as its a big industry so doesn't need to. Magazine covers are designed to get the film 'buffs' to go and see the film as they are the ones who usually buy the magazines and want to attract the audience. 

Introduction

For our year 13 coursework we have been told produce a 2 minute trailer a film poster and a magazine cover for our selected genre, of film. In the group we have decided to do a pshcological  thriller film as it suits more of our tastes as a group.
